Life Coaching FAQ
by Chris Collingwood Coach and NLP Trainer Assessor
1. What is Life Coaching?
Life coaching is a communication process in which a life coach assists the client in accessing their own inner resources, qualities and capabilities to achieve their desired outcomes. The process of life coaching leads to self empowerment for the client. Through life coaching the client becomes more able to manage their own life. Ideally after a number of sessions a client is able to incorporate this process and be their own coach. Self management, self empowerment.
2. What is at the heart of effective Life Coaching?
Great communication skills are at the heart of effective life coaching. A skilled life coach understands the relationship between how people think and communicate. They have an awareness of the relationship between language patterns and behaviour. Inspiritive life coaches are trained to track the assumptions and thinking processes of the client reflected in their use of language. Being able to track the clients beliefs, behaviours and metaphors of life enable the coach to ask appropriate and pertinent questions of the client. This facilitates a deep self exploration for the client that often leads to subtle shifts in the clients awareness that often makes all the difference in making significant progress towards desired outcomes.
3. So why is NLP so useful for Life Coaching?
NLP provides a human technology for creating change. NLP is a technology whose domain is the study of communication and thinking patterns. It studies the relationship between language, thought and action. As Inspiritive life coaches are comprehensively trained in NLP technology, they offer a considerable advantage compared with most life coaches in terms of time, effectiveness and quality.
4. How is Inspiritive Life Coaching different to counselling?
Traditionally, counselling tends to focus in on clients' problems. If you put your attention to a problem behaviour or problem emotion you can often intensify the experience of the problem. In contrast skilled life coaches focus on the clients desired outcomes. As clients attend to what they want resources can be explored and gathered towards meeting those desires. However, keep in mind that Inspiritive life coaches have the technology to facilitate change in any problems that arise in relationship to the clients outcomes. Once again it is about having the ability to track patterns of language and behaviour. And then knowing how to work with those patterns so that the client can make useful changes in their lives. Counselling and most psychotherapy attends to and tends to get caught up with the clients content, NLP attends to pattern and process, the how. How is that individual or team organising their experience? And how can they reorganise their experience to achieve their outcomes?
5. How do I find a suitable Coach?
Simply select the program the best meets your needs, look through the Inspiritive Life Coach biographies and choose a coach. E-mail or telephone your coach and arrange a meeting to discuss your program.
